Ethan and the Road Trip

So my brother and sister say "let's take a road trip to Richmond to see Ethan". At first I wasn't going to go and then the bonus my sister was going to drive. I'm in!

This is my sister Sue and Ethan in front of his new 'second hand' car. We drove over to a Mexican resturant and then to Target to buy him a sweatshirt. My brother wanted to go buy some coffee. Then Ethan wanted to show us where he worked at the museum.
One of my favorite items at the museum.

Ethan went without asking to get me a wheelchair and pushed me around the museum. I have a bunion on my left foot that's going to need surgery. It's the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. He works security, not with the gun Mom. He's happy and I hope thinking about going back to school.
My 20 year old. I LOVE him bunches and got me some hugs!

1st making fabric square in 15

So here is my 1st making fabric square groups of fabrics.
I called this my blue and red group.

Here is my first square in 15.
I had a lot of straight lines in this group and I ended up hand sewing one of the seams.
I'm happy for my first attempt and with the scraps I cut I tossed them in the bag to use again.
My problem is I love some of the prints so much I have a hard time cutting them down...

15 minutes of play

Here I am on Saturday working on my bag a scaps.
Thank goodness my allergies don't show in this picture.
We were trying to get the flash to not flash so it would show the colors better.

Here is the bag a scraps I bought from Stephanie after reading her blog which lead me to her etsy shop.

So the first things I did was find the fabric with the selvages and took off 1 1/2 inches. Anyone that doesn't use their selvages I'd love to have them. When I collect enough I'm going to be making something - not sure what yet. I made a bunch of bags of scraps to make fabric. I tried to upload a bunch of pictures, but it didn't work for me so I'll do it in bits and pieces.

Tools

Em wanted to know what our favorite tool was. I have to say my design wall. I just started really following Weight Watchers again and cut out words from a few magazines to motivate me. I also took a paper piecing class and the black and white qualifies as my 15 minutes of play as inspired by Victoria. The chalk board placemat is for the adorable Abigail. Visit both ladies if you have time. Life is full of celebrations!!!

Chain saw

OK for those of you that don't know me well my favorite garden tool is the small electric chain saw that was my Dad's. I love it! I love cuting things down and up and such. Well today my wonderful TDH says Honey do you still have your chain saw? I'm going to get some big pieces of wood for you to cut up. Now that is LOVE... He even stood beside me as I cut up the limbs. That's trust right there. So now we are waiting until after the grocery store and movie to light up that fireplace.

Foot Surgery in my future

I've been out of it lately. Walking like a drunk because I can't put my left foot down properly due to what is called a bunion. I'm going to have surgery to correct because I need to be able to walk. Gosh I'm so thanksful something can be done. It makes me think about how blessed I am. I have a job, I have health care to help me to pay, I have a wonderful hospital at Augusta, I have a great husband to take care of me. I hope to learn to how to use the camera and get the pictures uploaded. Think about the sewing time I can have after the drugs wear off.

My Christmas

A Kindle 3G since I can use it overseas. Love my Jane Austen

A camera - not as many fancy settings as my old one, but GREAT. It's red, but looks pink. I had to get image off the net as I couldn't figure out how to take a picture in the mirror without the flash going off.

This is a link to my new 'China' coat. I love it as in real life it hot pink!

God has blessed me with many friends, a wonderful family, in so many ways I can't list them all. In March 2010 I got a married after 15 years of prayer. I started this blog and have met a lot of you wonderful friends.
